Checking in on the Shielded

From Rother Voluntary Action

As you know, we have been calling everyone on the Shielded List in East Sussex. There are over 1,000 residents who we have not been able to make contact with. Starting next week, volunteers from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and the British Red Cross will be undertaking welfare visits on our behalf. Any volunteers doing these visits will have their own organisation ID and a printed information sheet from ESCC to give to residents. This includes our Shielded Helpline number 01273 481242 which residents can call to verify that the visit is genuine.

The Red Cross will be visiting residents in the Lewes/Eastbourne areas and the Fire Service will cover Hastings, Rother and Wealden.

Please could you share this information with your staff taking calls for the Community Hubs. If there are any concerns raised once these visits have started please email shielded@eastsussex.gov.uk or call the helpline. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact me should you have any queries.
