Friendly Chats & Listening Support
At times of stress, we work better in company and with support.
Try and keep in touch with your friends and family, by telephone, email or social media, or just simply give us a call!
We care about residents who might be feeling overwhelmed, lonely, anxious or frightened at this difficult time.
We have many volunteers who have offered to have a “friendly chat” with residents so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like a chat.
Find the phone number of the dispatcher in your area on our HOMEPAGE.
We also have a core team of experienced listeners, the listening support team, including nurses, therapists, psychoanalysts, clinical psychologists, social workers, charity support workers etc who will call you back if volunteers feel you would benefit from their support.
A bit about the Listening Support Team:
-
We are a group of people of diverse backgrounds willing to give time and support to our neighbours during this pandemic.
-
We offer a free supportive listening service, via the telephone, or online.
-
This is a free and voluntary service giving short term support; we are not offering therapy.
-
We each have experience with dealing with those in distress, enabling us to listen, think, and be with, without becoming overwhelmed by the other’s difficulties.
-
We are available at particular times only, and can offer up to six discussions.
-
We have a substantial list of resources for reference, to help us point people in the best direction for further support where that seems helpful.
Please do not hesitate to give us a call, we’d love to chat to you!
You can find the phone number of the dispatchers in your area on our HOMEPAGE
